Contact Us As part of the ongoing effort
to support the education of the children at R.O. Nelson Elementary, the
Nelson PTA sponsors and participates in many different fund raising programs.
Some of these programs are run year-round and others are held at specific
times during the school year. Together, these various programs afford
a wide variety of opportunities for families and community members to
contribute, many at no cost.
There are two different type of programs— PTA Sponsored and Community
Sponsored. Community sponsored programs are sponsored by local and national
businesses help promote the education of our children by offering free
equipment or money through various programs. If you shop any of the businesses
below please follow the guidelines listed below, to see how you can help
our school.
| Fall Spell-a-thon |
The main fundraiser for the year. Without a good response to this fun (and educational) fundraiser, the PTA would not be able to provide all of the extra programs and support that mean so much to our students. |
| Book Fairs |
Held twice a year, Book Fairs offer you the opportunity to obtain quality books, while proceeds from the fairs purchase books for the library and classrooms. |
| Nelson Kids Can |
An aluminum recycling program. Bring aluminum cans to the bins by the school to be recycled for money. No cost to you, environmentally friendly, open year round. Scrap aluminum is also taken (house siding, old storm window frames, etc.). |
| Printer Cartridge Recycling |
Send in your empty Inkjet and laser printer cartridges. Again, no cost to you, big rewards for the school. Tell your friends, collect at work. |
| Pizza Knights |
Have fun with all other Nelson families at CiCi's three times a year. Check the calendar and news letters for dates and times. |
| Box Tops |
Clip and send in to the school Box Tops for Education from General Mills, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Green Giant, Old El Paso, Gold Medal, Progresso and Totino's products. We get a dime for each box top you save! |
| Target |
Designate Nelson as your "Target" school when using the Target Guest Card or Target Visa Card. More "free" money for the school. |
| Labels for Education |
Keep cutting off and sending in Campbell Soup labels, Prego labels, Goldfish UPC's and Pace lids for purchase of school equipment. |
| Farm Fresh receipts |
Start saving and sending in Farm Fresh receipts allowing the school to order books, equipment and computer programs. |
| Food Lion Shop and Share |
Register your MVP card on-line or by calling 1-800-210-9569 and ask for a percentage of your purchases to go to R.O. Nelson Elementary School PTA. |
| Harris Teeter |
Harris Teeter will give the school rebates if you link your VIC Card to our number, 4342, each year. |
| Tyson Project A+ |
Save box tops or tear off strips from any Tyson frozen chicken product. We get 24¢ for each! |
